MOONBEAMS
The creation of Moonbeams is deeply rooted in the landscape of the roads, trees, blooms & fields nestled between Cayuga and Seneca Lakes, and especially by how they appear under the light of the moon. Both haunting and whimsical, Moonbeams draws sonic inspiration from both musical theatre and art song with a hearty influence from folk singer songwriters like Joni Mitchell and Neil Young.
Recorded at Sunwood Recording in Trumansburg, NY, the album is firmly grounded in its place and time, telling a chapter in the story of a woman who finds the world so dark that the moon becomes her primary source of light. Poetic lyrics rife with imagery pair with Penelope’s unique, ringing melodies to take listeners on a journey from the depths of sadness to the precipice of joy itself.
Moonbeams was produced in collaboration with Chris Ploss at Sunwood Recording in Trumansburg, NY, and features Samuel B Lupowitz on the Organ, Chris Ploss on Bass & Percussion.
